Meet Brett

Brett commenced work in the areas of human resources, industrial relations, and safety, in the oil and gas sector, working both onshore and offshore.

Over the initial years in this sector, Brett undertook formal training and obtained qualifications in the fields of industrial relations, OHS and workers compensation. Brett worked across the oil and gas, general industrial and construction sectors and mining sectors operating around Australia including: Western Australia mines, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania.

On returning to Victoria, Brett has worked for many manufactures, operating in Australia and abroad, educational facilities, health sector and local government. Over this time, Brett has been fortunate to have secured contracts in both external and internal roles. 

Working across industry including mining, construction, manufacturing, local government, education, transport, and healthcare, he was exposed to significant industrial relations, workers compensation and OHS matters, this allowed Brett to develop a high level of skill and expertise in these areas.

After spending considerable time in the Fair Work Commission, Accident Compensation Tribunal and Human Rights Commission, Brett decided to undertake a law degree and practical legal training. 

Brett currently holds a current practicing certificate and is currently a practicing Australian lawyer. Brett undertook his supervised training with a law firm in Melbourne Australia.  On successful completion of his supervision, Brett opened the law firm Salt Legal and is currently the Principal Lawyer.

The fields in which Brett practices include industrial relations, employee relations, equal opportunity, alternative dispute resolution, labour management, OHS, workers compensation and general business and commercial law.

Meet Claire

Claire is a professional, resourceful, highly organised administrator with exceptional interpersonal skills. Possesses a friendly and helpful manner when dealing with staff, senior executives, and clients alike and has the reputation of being reliable and flexible with a strong work ethic.

Experienced and well developed organisational and administrative skills with capability and versatility to perform all day-to-day tasks in addition to coordinating events and functions. A level-headed, calm approach to work priorities, Claire is able to prioritise and deliver results by given deadlines with strong attention to detail.

Claire has wide industry experience; including finance, healthcare (HR), government sectors and law.

Claire is the Practice Manager for Salt Legal.  Claire manages the day-to-day operations of the firm and is responsible for the management of administration, financial, employees and contractors.  Claire plays a critical role in Salt Legal and is often the first port of call for our clients.

Meet Michelle

Michelle Hui Meng Ong was a practicing Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya (Malaysia) from 1995 up until her relocation to Australia in 2007 where she has maintained her career in legal practice. Michelle employs a practical and sensible approach in her practice, bringing together her years of experience in corporate and commercial litigation, and with the advantage of understanding clients of diverse cross cultural dispositions.

Michelle handles various aspects of contentious disputes, from civil to corporate, with an emphasis on her advisory role in commercial aspects with the aim of achieving the most effective resolution of the dispute by balancing the clients’ exposure to risk and their business objectives.

With her earlier years in litigation practice in Malaysia, Michelle continues to handle a wide range of civil, commercial and corporate disputes, with her primary areas of practice in matters involving debt recovery, breach of contract, building and construction, employment, defamation, banking and finance, margin facility, tenancy, breach of trust and fiduciary duties, insurance claims, land, wills and estate since her admission to practice in Victoria in 2011.

Meet Robert

Robert is an experienced health, safety and environment professional, working in HSE for over 25 years on various construction, mining, rail, oil and gas projects.  

Robert specialises in registers, KPIs, training matrices, risk assessments, internal audits, ISO accreditation audits, incident investigations and reports. 

Meet Steve

Steve is an effective human resource/industrial relations consultant with experience within major Australian corporations such as Myer, Shell, Toyota, and Ford. Steve has considerable experience in the negotiation of enterprise agreements, advice and assistance with industrial disputes and advocacy before Fair Work Commission. 

Steve is an excellent communicator, with effective problem solving, conciliation, negotiation and counselling skills with enthusiastic training and staff supervision/management capabilities. 

Steve advises and assists our clients in the areas of human resources and industrial relations.
